‘E-waste Pollution’ Threat to Human Health – US News and World Report

Rsearchers took air samples from electronic waste dismantling areas in china to examine their effects on human lung epithelial cells.

The results showed that pollutants cause significant increase in the levels of:
1-Interlukin (Il-8)
2- Reactive oxygen species (ROS)
Increse in IL-8 and ROS are indicators of inflammatory response and oxidative stress.
Both imflammatory response and oxidative stress are contributors to cancer and cardiovascular disease.
