HEPA Filters Can Reduce Health Risk

Posted on January 31, 2011

According to a recent study on air pollution, high efficiency particle air( HEPA ) filters can reduce health risk by reducing systemic inflammation.

The study involved 45 healthy adults form 25 homes in a woodsmoke-impacted community.

The study was to assess the impact on particle exposures and endothelial function.

Result- HEPA filters reduced the average concentration of:

  1. Fine particulates inside the home by 60%
  2. Woodsmoke by 75%

Systemic inflammation is associated with cardiovascular disease.

The findings  mean that HEPA filters may reduce  the risk of cardiovascular disease associated with air pollution.
