CT Screening Reduces Lung Cancer Deaths

According to a recent report low dose computer tomography (CT) screening of heavy smokers can reduce deaths  from lung cancer by 20%.

The trial which started in 2002 involved more than 50,000 current and formed heavy smokers age 55- 74.

The trial was to determine whether screening with low dose helical or spiral CT would reduce lung cancer mortality.

According to the study CT screening worked better than  Xray but exposes the patient to more radiation.
