Green Vegetables Good For Preventing Diabetes

Another report on diabetes found that a diet with green leafy vegetables and spinach can reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes  by 14%.

Researchers examined 6 studies that explored the effect of fruit and vegetables on type 2 diabetes. They found that eating 1 1/2 servings more of green leafy vegetables could reduce the risk.

‘Vegetables and Fruit’ is the most important food group in a healthy eating pattern and is important in the prevention of many diseases including diabetes.

The report; however, found that more fruit and vegetables combined had no impact. This collaborates with our healthy eating guide which encourages dark green vegetables daily.

Our health eating guide advise to include at least one serving of dark green and one of orange for optimum nutrition.
