World Cup -Playing Hard Ball With World Health

Posted on June 20, 2010

I want to share this report I read in the Independent: When Brands Play Hard ball. It is projected that FIFA  will bank 80% more in sponshorsip revenue than they did in Germany.

Thanks to sponsors such as:

  • Coca cola- The war on sweetened drinks
  • McDonald- The war on calories, fat and salt
  • Budweiser- The war on binge drinking and alcoholism

In the mean time health promoters are raising concerns that the wrong message is being delivered  to the same audience they are trying to reach.

Is football selling power contributing to society’s major ills?

Where are the fitness sponsors in all of this, to get rid of all the bad stuff ingested?

I am a soccer fan, but I am also a health promoter.
