Breast Density May Be Inherited

Breast density is a risk factor for breast cancer, but according to a report published in the Lancet Oncology it may be inherited. The study examined 400 mothers and daughters pairs, the daughters age 15-30. They used magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to measure breast water concentration in the young women.
Result: Mothers with dense breast tissue are more likely to have daughters with breast dense tissue.

The study shows the importance of early intervention in promoting health, in dealing with other health risk factors early in life.
