Flu Shot May Prevent Blood Clots

There are other health benefits from the flu shot according to a study presented at the American Heart Association recently.

They studied 727 participants with a history of one deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism, and no history of cancer in the past five years. They were compared with the same number or individuals with no history of blood clots.

The participants filled out questionaires regarding their:
1-Medical history
2-Whether or not they had had a flu shot in the last year
They were followed for five years.
28% of the people who had a clot, and 32% of the controls were vaccinated.
The result: individuals who had flu shots were 26% less likely to develop a blood clot.
