To prevent diseases such as malaria and West Nile virus, researchers are trying to develop vaccines for ticks and mosquitoes. Through the use of endectocides.
The new strategy, if successful will make blood meals from humans lethal to the mosquitoes so they die before they can transmit the virus.
The aim in this study will be to shorten the lifespan of the vector, or block them from infecting in the first palce.
The research is scheduled to be presented at the American Society of Tropical Disease and Hygiene next week.
I will keep you informed.
